Three Valley teams, several individuals qualify for districts
STOW
Austintown Fitch boys bowler Seth Harper rolled a 649 series to win the individual title in the Division I sectional tournament Friday at Sto-Kent Family Entertainment. Harper bowled games of 234, 233 and 182 for Fitch, which placed second in the team standings to earn one of three team spots in the district tournament. The Boardman and Warren Harding girls bowling teams finished second and third, respectively, in the Division I sectional tournament to qualify for districts. Boardman’s Lexus Petrich placed second individually with a 574 series, including games of 199, 160 and 215. Teammate Josalyn Hibbard was fourth after rolling games of 205, 143 and 212 for a 560 series. Teammate Sam Hoffman (177-171-195—543) was sixth and Warren Harding’s Isabella Frazzini was eighth (184-186-135—505). Individual qualifiers for the girls districts were Howland’s Danielle Harigan (183-146-164—493), who placed 10th, and Fitch’s Renee Seebacher (158-182-148—488), who was 11th. Fitch’s Larry Iagulli (245-193-152—590) was sixth among individual boys and Falcons teammate Domenic Veltri (246-170-161—577) was eighth. Niles’ Nathan Zook (189-185-181—555) was ninth to earn an individual qualifying spot. Warren Harding’s Shon Moore (203-203-130—536) placed 10th. The Division I girls district tournament is Saturday, Feb. 23 and the boys district tournament is Sunday, Feb. 24. Both begin at noon at Roseland Lanes in Oakwood Village.

Fitch held on to win after nearly squandering a 43-33 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Falcons were led by Kris Brown with 19 points. Todd Simons added 14 for Fitch. Mooney was led by Mike Pelini with 13 points, Mark Phillips with 12 and Pete Haas with 11.
Valley Christian 54, Rootstown 40
YOUNGSTOWN
Valley Christian trailed by just one entering the fourth quarter, and then held Rootstown scoreless in the final period to get the win. Milan Square led the Eagles with 19 points. Lohron Brown added 14 and Melvin Neail had 12. Jack Steger had 13 and Scott Steger 12 for the Rovers.
Poland 64, Niles 46
NILES
Braeden O’Shaughnessy led all scorers with 33 points and six rebounds and four steals for Poland. Daniel Kramer added 14 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Niles wa sled by Cyler Kane-Johnson with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Corbin Foy added 17 for the Red Dragons.
Liberty 62, Campbell 60
CAMPBELL
Travis Myers hit the go-ahead 3-pointer to give the Leopards the lead late. Myers finished with 16 points and Ezell Brown scored a game-high 23 for Liberty. Campbell’s Raysean Hicks scored 17 points.
Springfield 63, Columbiana 49

Drew Clark scored 20 points to lead Springfield. Shane Eynon added 17 points for the Tigers. Erik Hopfenziz notched a double double for Columbiana with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Matt Mazei chipped in with 15 points.
Lakeview 51, Girard 46
GIRARD
Lakeview trailed throughout the first three quarters, but A.J. McClellan scored 13 points in the final period to lead the Bulldogs. Clay Lazzari added two 3-pointers and eight points overall. Girard was led by Austin Claussell with 12 points and Matt Payich with 10.

Preston Rapczak led all scorers with 16 points for Newton Falls. Gage Friend and Adam Honeycutt added 14 points each. Brookfield was led by Connor Filipovich with 13 points and Conner Stevens with 12.

Justin Sweeney led Lisbon (10-10) with 16 points. Ryan McCullough added 13 points and Blayne Brownfield added 10. Jackson-Milton (2-18) was led by Mason Robison with 15 points, all on 3-pointers.

The Raiders led 38-18 at halftime and never looked back. Chris Brooks scored 21 points and Eli Taylor scored 11 points for South Range. Bobby Ray led the Falcons with 10 points.
