The American Heart Association will host its annual Red Party Heart Ball on May 4 at the Avalon Inn & Resort. The black-tie event will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The program will begin at 7 and will include dancing to the music of Rudy & the Professionals.
The Heart Ball is sponsored by Farmers Trust Co., Farmers National Bank and Mercy Health. Dave Dastoli, Farmers Trust Co. president, is the chairman of the event. Derek Steyer from 21 WFMJ-TV will be the emcee for the evening. The story of Jermaine Smith Jr., 4, the 2019 Tri-County Heart Child, will be shared. Jermaine was born with a congenital heart defect and underwent open heart surgery at 2 weeks old.
The Heart Ball is the AHA’s annual event to celebrate survivors and the achievements of local physicians, philanthropists and volunteers committed to helping the association fulfill its national goal to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent and to reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.
