Southern Park outage

BOARDMAN

Power was restored by 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to several stores in Southern Park Mall that lost power about 7 p.m. and closed for the night.

However, a First Energy spokeswoman said crews were working to restore power to another 40 customers in the same area and expected to have power back on for them by 10:30 p.m..

Dillard’s and J.C. Penney did not lose power and remained open until the mall’s normal closing hour of 9 p.m. Macy’s was reportedly without power.

The First Energy spokeswoman said the outage was caused by an equipment problem in a substation that serves the area.
