Boston College 41, Wake Forest 34

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.

Anthony Brown threw two of his career-high five touchdown passes to Jeff Smith, and Boston College beat Wake Forest in a game that started two hours early with Hurricane Florence approaching. Brown was 16 of 25 for a career-best 304 yards with touchdowns of 27 and 71 yards to Smith, plus TDs of 35 yards to Kobay White, 29 yards to Tom Sweeney and 40 yards to Ben Glines for the Eagles (3-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). AJ Dillon, the ACC’s leading rusher, ran for 185 yards with a 45-yard TD for the Eagles. Freshman Sam Hartman was 20 of 45 for 214 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Demon Deacons (2-1, 0-1).

Charlotte 28, Old Dominion 25

CHARLOTTE, N.C.

Chris Reynolds threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns and Charlotte beat Old Dominion in a Conference USA opener played two days early because of Hurricane Florence. Marquavis Gibbs and Juwan Foggie had interceptions on back-to-back Old Dominion possessions in the fourth quarter. After the first pick, Aaron McAllister caped a 12-play drive with a 14-yard scoring run to extend Charlotte’s lead to 28-18. Jonathan Duhart pulled Old Dominion ton 28-25 with 2:57 left in the game on a short TD grab.

James Madison 73, Robert Morris 7

HARRISONBURG, VA.

Ben DiNucci accounted for a career-high five touchdowns and James Madison eased by Robert Morris in a game played early because of Hurricane Florence. James Madison (2-1), ranked No. 2 in the FCS coaches’ poll, tied a program record with 52 points in the first half. Marcus Marshall went in motion and took a short pass 39 yards to open the scoring. DiNucci made it 14-0 on a short sneak after Cardon Johnson highlighted the drive with a 21-yard run. Jimmy Moreland became James Madison’s career leader with 15 interceptions on a second-quarter pick-6 and Percy Agyei-Obese scored with 24 seconds left before halftime for a 52-0 lead.

Richmond 35, Saint Francis, Pa. 27

LORETTO, PA.

Tyler Wilkins caught a pass in the corner of the end zone with two seconds left, giving Richmond a 35-27 victory over Saint Francis of Pennsylvania. Zach Campbell caught a 12-yard touchdown pass to give Saint Francis a 27-23 lead with 1:10 left Richmond marched down the field, aided by a pass interference penalty, and had first-and-goal with seven seconds remaining. After Wilkins’ 6-yard TD grab, Saint Francis fumbled on the kickoff and Maurice Jackson returned it for a score. Kevin Johnson completed 22 of 29 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns for Richmond (2-1).

Davidson 91, Guilford 61

DAVIDSON, N.C.

Wesley Dugger scored three of Davidson’s 13 touchdowns, helping the Wildcats beat Division III Guilford. Davidson (3-0) set program records in the first half with 57 points and 524 yards and added two more in the second half for points and total yards (964). Eli Turner Jr.’s first career touchdown broke the Wildcats’ record for rushing scores in a game with eight midway through the third quarter. Davidson trailed 6-0 before scoring 36 unanswered points.
