Food sales and dinners through Sept. 19

THURSDAY

Austintown Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, will host a drive-through stuffed chicken breast dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. Menu includes stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7. Pepperoni rolls also will be available for $2 each. To reserve a dinner the day of the sale, call 330-792-5889 or email austintowngrace@gmail.com. Drive to the back of the church and your dinner will be delivered to you.

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will have its monthly drive-through stuffed chicken breast dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The dinners include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie for $7. Drive up to the door, and someone will take the dinners to your car. Call 330-549-2588 to reserve dinners and leave a name, phone number, the number of dinners wanted and approximate time of arrival. A percentage of the profits is used for local mission projects.

Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will begin pirogi sales Friday. Call in orders to 330-755-1316 from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. Choose potato, kraut or prune pirogi at $6 per dozen. Pickup will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, is selling potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.

VFW Col. Louis J. Campbell Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread and butter and coffee. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $8 and will be available until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

VFW Post 2799 Auxiliary will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the post home, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield. Menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, Italian bread, coffee or tea. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. Cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.75. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 330-792-1005.

SATURDAY

Beaver Township Fire and Rescue will host a chicken dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fire department, 601 W. South Range Road, North Lima. Tickets in advance are $10 or $12 at the door and carryout will be available. Menu includes barbecued chicken, potatoes, green beans, applesauce, apple dumplings with ice cream and drinks. Proceeds benefit Beaver Township Fireman’s Association.

Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, will host a pasta dinner fundraiser from 2 to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, and children 5 and under are free. Proceeds benefit Brittany Shannon, who had a tumor removed and requires extensive reconstructive surgery. For information, call the church at 330-707-9031.

St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, will host a steak fry from 1 to 5 p.m. Menu includes entree and sides at $18 per dinner. Eat in or takeout is available. Southington American Legion Post will host a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the post home, 3145 Warren-Burton Road. Donations are $9 for adults, $4 for children under 12. Menu includes Swiss steak with gravy, real mashed potatoes, coleslaw, vegetable, drinks and dessert. Takeouts are available.

SUNDAY

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St. (across from the library), will host a roast beef dinner from noon to 2 p.m. The dinner is sponsored by the Men’s Organization with proceeds to benefit mission projects. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $9 for adults and $4 for children under 12. For information, call 330-876-4485.

Protestant Family Services will sponsor a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman. Donations of $8 for adults and $5 for children age 6 to 12 will be accepted. Carryout also will be available. Reservations may be made by calling 330-746-4600. Proceeds benefit the PFS.

TAKING ORDERS

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road, is taking orders for potato and chicken noodle soups, homemade pepperoni rolls, fresh baked bread and homemade sticky buns. Cost for soup is $5 a quart or $3 a pint. Cost for pepperoni rolls is $8 for large and $2.50 for a single. Bread is $2 for a large loaf and $1.50 for a small loaf. Orders must be placed no later than 7 p.m. today by calling 330-759-1460. Pickup will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, is taking orders for chicken noodle and vegetable soups, chicken paprikash and stuffed cabbage. Cost is $6 per quart for soups; $8 per quart for paprikash; and $25 per dozen for stuffed cabbage. All orders must be made by Sept. 30 by calling Tim Komara at 330-519-9036. Pickup will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the center.

UPCOMING

Aut-Mori Grotto will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 22 at the Grotto Banquet Hall, 563 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. The menu includes pancakes, link sausage, eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, coffee and juice. Cost is $6 per adult and $3 for children under 12. This is a monthly event held on the fourth Saturday of each month, unless it falls on a holiday. For information about this event or Grotto charities, contact Pudge at 330-720-2660.

Aut-Mori Grotto will host its 12th annual pigs in a blanket (cabbage rolls) dinner from noon to 4 p.m. or until sold out Oct. 7. Menu includes stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, homemade applesauce, bread and butter, dessert and hot or cold (non-alcoholic) beverages. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 for children under 12. Cultural Society of St. John the Baptist Church of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish will host a stuffed cabbage dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at St. John the Baptist Church Hall, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell. Cost is $10 for adults amd $5 for children. Extra stuffed cabbage rolls can be purchased 6 for $12. Take-out orders available, containers provided. The event will include basket raffle tables, 50-50 raffles and a bake sale. Pre-sale tickets and extra orders are available from St. John’s Cultural Society members or call Mariann at 330-755-1979. Tickets also will be available at the door.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima, will have an all-you-can-eat breakfast available for a donation from 7 to 10 a.m. Sept. 29. Buffet items will include eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice and more. For information, call 330-549-2333.
