YOUNGSTOWN
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Babinec recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a surprise party at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. The Babinecs also marked the occasion with a vow renewal at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown.
The party was hosted by the couple’s children: Tom Babinec of New Middletown, Janet Chudomelka of Bonsall, Calif. and Greg Babinec of Cleveland. Three grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Babinec married the former Linda Scheetz on Aug. 17, 1968, at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown.
Mrs. Babinec retired in 2008 from Youngstown State University’s political science department where she worked as an administrative assistant. She belongs to Beta Sigma Phi and St. Dominic John Severn Soup Group.
Mr. Babinec worked in sales at LTV Steel in Youngstown until he retired in 2003. He is a member of the Coitsville Golf League and the American Legion. He also is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
The couple are members of St. Dominic Church in Youngstown.
