Python presents slithery situation at Goodwill store

FORT WORTH, Texas

A Goodwill worker collecting clothes and other items at a Texas sorting center was surprised to find an albino python clinging to the side of a bin.

The python was huddled in a pile of clothes when the worker discovered it Nov. 1 at the center in Fort Worth.

Manager James Murphy says it’s not clear if the snake slithered away from its owner and was accidentally dropped off or if its donation was intentional.

The python had a serpentine journey: It arrived at one of nearly 40 Goodwill donation drop-offs in the area before being transported to the Fort Worth sorting center.

Goodwill staffers will care for the python until the owner claims it or a permanent home is found.

Candidate called ‘Bigfoot erotica’ devotee wins

RICHMOND, Va.

Despite being labeled a “devotee of Bigfoot erotica,” a Republican candidate won a closely watched congressional race in Virginia.

Denver Riggleman won handily over Democrat Leslie Cockburn in last week’s race for the 5th District.

During the campaign, Cockburn leveled an unusual allegation . The former investigative journalist and “60 Minutes” producer said Riggleman was unfit for office after a chapter of a book he authored about Bigfoot was published online.

Riggleman said he wrote the book – “The Mating Habits of Bigfoot and Why Women Want Him” – as a joke among friends.

Riggleman’s win keeps the 5th District in the hands of the GOP. The Air Force veteran and distillery owner announced his candidacy after incumbent Republican Tom Garrett announced he is an alcoholic and ended his re-election bid.

Woman tries to drive away with N.D. squad car

DEVILS LAKE, N.D.

Charges are pending against a 23-year-old woman who police say got into a police car and tried to drive away in northeast North Dakota.

KFGO radio reports that police responded to a fight early Nov. 4 in Devils Lake, a city about 160 miles northwest of Fargo.

When one officer got out of a squad car to investigate, the woman allegedly jumped in, drove the car onto a curb and tried to back up onto the street.

Investigators say the officer was able to remove the woman from the vehicle.

She was arrested on charges including driving under the influence.
