Costume exhibit in Ohio satisfies ‘new nostalgia’

Museumgoers in Ohio are getting a rare opportunity to view more than 40 costumes linked to some of Paramount Pictures’ most memorable characters, including “Forrest Gump’s” Jenny and “Star Trek’s” Khan.
“Creating the Illusion: Costumes & Characters from the Paramount Pictures Archive” opened last week at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio in Lancaster and runs through Aug. 12.

Hocking Hills shuttle makes traveling easier for visitors

Travelers now have an easier way to move between the most popular natural features of Ohio’s Hocking Hills region.
Shuttles will run every Saturday and Sunday until Oct.28. The service will also be available on Memorial Day.
Two shuttles will depart from Homegrown on Main in downtown Logan approximately every 30 minutes, and will drop visitors off at the Old Man’s Cave campground office.
Free parking is available in the Hocking County Courthouse in downtown Logan. Two additional buses will loop between four popular hiking hotspots, including Old Man’s Cave, Whispering Cave, Cedar Falls and Ash Cave.
The shuttle is $10 per person and includes a wristband good for unlimited rides that day. The first shuttle departs downtown Logan at 10 a.m., and the final shuttle returns at 6:30 p.m. Well-behaved leashed dogs are permitted on the shuttle.
WW2 museum’s Bob Hope exhibit opens Friday

The National World War II Museum is about to open a new exhibit about comedian Bob Hope and his performances for American troops serving around the world.
The exhibit includes wartime correspondence between Hope and service members, and World War II-era relics engraved to Hope. It also includes never-published or displayed photos taken by a military photographer, wartime films from his travels, Hollywood Victory Caravan photos and scrapbooks, an interactive display and an original 10-minute documentary. The museum also is hosting free showings of classic movies Bob Hope made from 1939 to 1955.
The exhibit opened Friday and will run through Feb. 10.
Great American Pow-Wow set for July, Sept.
The Great Mohican Pow-Wow will be hosted by Mohican Reservation Camp & Festival Grounds in Loudonville, Ohio, from July 13-15 and September 14-16.
Throughout the festival grounds there are demonstrations of Native American culture. You can get a taste of Native American Indian foods. Plus, more than 40 artisans display and sell a wide variety of Native American made furs, clothes, baskets, art, jewelry, carvings and much more.
The Great Mohican Pow-Wow will be hosted by Mohican Reservation Campgrounds at 23270 Wally Road South in Loudonville. Admission is $8/adult and $4/child with discounts for two- and three-day passes as well as for colleges, groups, Scouts, teachers, seniors and veterans.
