Boy Scout Troop 9002 celebrates achievements

Neighbors | Submitted .Boy Scout Troop 9002 celebebrated three members achieving the rank of Eage Scout. Pictured are, Victor Di Tommaso, Diego Calderon and Joshua Porter.

Troop 9002 recently recognized three scouts for achieving the rank of Eagle.

These young men mark the 101st, 102nd and 103rd Eagle Scouts for Troop 9002 chartered to Poland United Methodist Church in Poland.

Joshua Porter celebrated the rank of Eagle at a Court of Honor ceremony on Nov. 26. Among his achievements, Porter earned 40 merit badges, was inducted into the Order of the Arrow and served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Porter created 20 seed starting grow kits for the Ohio State University Extension Office. Porter is a junior at Poland Seminary High School where he is a member of the soccer team.

Victor Di Tommaso celebrated the rank of Eagle at a Court of Honor ceremony on Dec. 17. Notable achievements included earning 24 merit badges, being inducted into the Order of the Arrow and serving as Senior Patrol Leader. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Di Tommaso created several bookshelves for a new library at Potential Development Elementary School in Youngstown. Di Tommaso is a senior at Poland Seminary High School where he is involved in the Poland Players theater club and was a varsity soccer player.

Diego Calderon celebrated the rank of Eagle at a Court of Honor ceremony on Jan. 21. Calderon completed 38 merit badges, served as Neatoka Chapter Chief while a member of the Order of the Arrow and served as Senior Patrol Leader. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Calderon created an over-sized PVC pipe xylophone for the Rich Center for Autism in Youngstown. Calderon is a junior at Poland Seminary High School, where he participates in the robotics club and tennis team.
