‘Rocktopia’ will return to Powers

Rocktopia, the classic rock-meets-classical music live show co-created by Youngstown Symphony Orchestra director Randall Craig Fleischer, will come to Powers Auditorium on Oct. 26.
Tickets start at $35 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at youngstownsymphony.com, by phone at 330-744-0-0264 and at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, 260 W. Federal St., downtown.
Rocktopia includes five top level vocalists including Broadway star Rob Evan (also of Trans-Siberian Orchestra), a rock band and a 20-piece orchestra led by Fleischer. It merges the music of Queen, Mozart, Aerosmith, Beethoven, The Who, Tchaikovsky, Pink Floyd, Puccini, Journey and more.
Rocktopia premiered at Powers Auditorium in 2012. The show, which has a Broadway-style stage presentation, mounted a U.S. tour in 2017 and followed it up with a six-week run on Broadway early this year. It will go back on the road in the fall.
Elton, Jann Klose shows at Madison

Music at Madison cabaret’s monthly programming at Dorian Books, 802 Elm St., North Side, will continue with the songs of Elton John on Saturday, with a 7 p.m. potluck dinner and 8 p.m. show. Potluck is welcome, but not required.
Admission is $20 and reservations are required; call 330-743-2665 (BYOB, stemware provided). Major credit cards are accepted.
Cabaret founder Rodd Coonce will present Elton John’s hits with his personal touch. Also performing on this evening will be Patsy Sullivan, Colleen Chance and Noki Ray. Come and sing-along. Accompanying the singers will be Jack Ciarniello and keyboard.
On July 6, at 8 p.m., Music at Madison will welcome singer-songwriter Jann Klose, who will perform songs from his latest album, “In Tandem.”

Klose was raised in Kenya, South Africa, Germany and Northeast Ohio and now lives in New York. He has performed as an actor-singer in touring companies of Broadway musicals “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Jekyll and Hyde” and The Who’s “Tommy.”
