Ex-Trump ally Omarosa has ‘explosive’ memoir

NEW YORK

Former President Donald Trump aide and “Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault Newman has a memoir coming that her publisher calls “explosive” and “jaw-dropping.”

The book is called “Unhinged.” Gallery Books announced Thursday that it will be released Aug. 14.

Manigault Newman, a Youngstown native, was a Trump ally who joined his administration in January 2017 as a White House communications director.

She had vowed that political foes would “bow down” to Trump. But she left after a year and spoke harshly of her experience, while denying reports she was fired. She said she was worried about the country and would never vote for Trump again.

The rare black woman in Trump’s administration, she has likened her departure to being freed from a “plantation.”

McCartney returns to Liverpool’s Cavern Club cellar bar

LONDON

Paul McCartney has returned to the famous Liverpool club credited with being the birthplace of The Beatles.

The 76-year-old played an exclusive performance Thursday at the Cavern Club – the cellar bar where the Fab Four played in their early years.

Some 270 fans packed into a sweltering room to watch McCartney after lining up for free tickets at the Echo Arena box office after the gig was announced.

“Liverpool. Cavern,” McCartney said as he opened the show. “Those are words that go together well.”

McCartney played the guitar and the keyboard in a performance which lasted almost two hours. He played Beatles classics including “Love Me Do,” “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Get Back,” as well as songs from his new album “Egypt Station.”

Trump Jr., wife, resolve child-custody issues

NEW YORK

A New York judge congratulated Donald Trump Jr. and his estranged wife, Vanessa, Thursday for resolving child-custody issues as they proceed toward divorce.

State Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz began a brief proceeding in open court by saying he understood that they had agreed to resolve all issues regarding their five children and parental rights.

“I congratulate you for working those things out,” Katz told the couple, who stood before the judge, separated by their lawyers, though they entered and left court together. The initial court appearance, which lasted less than 10 minutes, came after Vanessa Trump filed for divorce in March.
