ASSOCIATIONS

Buckeye Travelers, Mahoning Valley Chapter of Gold Wing Road Riders Association, will meet Saturday for dinner at 5 p.m. and a gathering at 6 at Dino’s Restaurant, 10941 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson. All motorcycle riders and makes of motorcycles are welcome.

Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA will meet Aug. 14 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Networking will take place at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30. The menu will include hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, salad, gelatin and dessert. The speaker will be Sean Posey, author of"Lost Youngstown" and "The Historic Theaters of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.” MillCreek Chapter"s scholarship students also will be in attendance. CLUBS

First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown Luncheon Speaker Series will feature the Rev. Edward Brienz at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at The Georgetown in Boardman. Brienz is director of Missions/Propagation of the Faith for the Diocese of Youngstown, administrator of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in McDonald and founder of Caf Augustine located in the Newport Library. Round Table Woodcarvers meet every Thursday from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at the Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Anyone interested in learning about carving is welcome to attend. For information, call 330-792-4355.

Steel Valley Ukers will meet from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road. Beginner instruction is offered during the first half of each session, followed by more complex group tunes and solos. Attendees will learn chords, strum patterns and jam etiquette in a relaxed atmosphere.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Warren Women'Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, will host a luncheon titled "Just Smile" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at DiLucia's Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE. There will be a presentation on dental health by Rudy Braydich, local dentist. Inspirational speaker is Suzanne Updike, and the topic is "Free Gifts." She is a teacher and former "anxiety queen" and will share her journey through post-partum depression. All teachers in attendance will be honored with a gift. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will meet for a "Golden Afternoon" luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The guest speaker will be Kimberly McCormick of New Castle, Pa., who will present "When Life's Unwelcome Changes Come, Open the Door." Nicole Carrabbia will present skin care tips from Rodan and Fields. Cost is $14 and includes lunch. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, and cancellations are necessary. SUPPORT GROUPS

Grief Share Support Group, hosted by Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, is meeting at 6 p.m. every Thursday through Aug. 14. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support and education to people and families dealing with serious mental illness. Support groups are as follows: Connection, a group for individuals with a mental health diagnosis, meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 6 p.m. at Alta Care Building, 142 Javit Court, Austintown; every Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave, Youngstown; every third Thursday at 1 p.m. at Madison Commons, 741 Madison, Youngstown; and the first and third Mondays at 6 p.m. at Madison Commons, 741 Madison, Youngstown. This group is specifically for individuals dealing with substance abuse and mental illness. Family Support, a group for family members of a person with mental illness meets every first Thursday at 11 a.m. at Girard Library, 105 E.
