Phantoms to play twice in Cranberry, Pa.
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Phantoms in conjunction with the USHL have announced the schedule for the 2018 Fall Classic taking place at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, Pa.
All 17 USHL teams will participate in the Fall Classic for the second straight year and the first time the games will count towards the regular season. In total each USHL team will play 62 regular season games.
The Phantoms will play the Tri-City Storm on Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. and the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Sept. 30 at 1:00 p.m.
The Phantoms return to Youngstown for the home opener on Oct. 5. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Ex-Baylor AD criticizes sexual-assault report

Baylor says its former athletic director made “factually baseless assertions” in a court deposition when he claimed regents tried to steer blame for the school’s sexual assault scandal to the football team.
The Waco Tribune reported Friday former Baylor AD Ian McCaw in June gave a 400-page deposition in a Title IX case against the university. McCaw, football coach Art Briles and university President Ken Starr all left Baylor in 2016 after the school hired a law firm to investigate how sexual assault claims, some against football players, were handled.
McCaw criticized the Pepper Hamilton investigation, saying regents directed its outcome. He also criticized university police’s handling of sexual assault cases.
In a statement, Baylor said McCaw’s claims of a “conspiracy by regents” were unsubstantiated.
Golden Knights resolve dispute with US Army
LAS VEGAS
The Vegas Golden Knights have resolved a trademark dispute with the U.S. Army over the NHL franchise’s name and gold and black colors.
The hockey team said in a statement Thursday that an agreement with the Army allows the team to continue using the “Vegas Golden Knights” and “Golden Knights” while the Army can keep using the “Golden Knights” nickname and variations of it for its parachute exhibition team.
The Las Vegas team first unveiled the name and logo in 2016. The Army later filed a challenge to oppose the team’s trademark, saying its parachute team has been nicknamed the “Golden Knights” since the 1960s.
Sagan takes 3rd win at Tour de France
VALENCE, France
Peter Sagan won his third stage of this Tour de France, while Geraint Thomas kept the overall lead over teammate Chris Froome on Friday.
Sagan won a sprint finish to claim Stage 13, a 169.5-kilometer (105-mile) leg from Bourg d’Oisans to Valence in less than four hours.
Thomas had no trouble maintaining his advantage of 1 minute, 39 second over defending champion Froome on the flat ride that came after three grueling days in the Alps.
Suspect admits guilt in figure skater’s death
MOSCOW
One of two men detained in Kazakhstan on suspicion of killing Olympic figure skating medalist Denis Ten has confessed, authorities said Friday.
Prosecutor Berik Zhuyrektayev said in a televised statement that Nuraly Kiyasov “confessed his guilt in the presence of an attorney” while being questioned over the 25-year-old skater’s death in the Kazakh city of Almaty.
Police have also detained 23-year-old Arman Kudaibergenov in connection with Ten’s death, which has prompted national mourning. Authorities released a picture of the disheveled-looking man being held by masked men wearing body armor and camouflage uniforms.
Ten was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died in hospital of massive blood loss from multiple wounds, the Kazinform news agency said.
Prosecutors are treating his death as murder.
