On Dec. 27, Cardinal Mooney High School, located at 2545 Erie Street in Youngstown, hosted its second Men’s and Women’s Alumni Basketball Game in honor of alumnus Dave Petty, class of ’84.

Petty was an alum, coach and teacher at CMHS before his passing in 2010.

To honor Petty’s legacy, CMHS hosted a coed basketball game to benefit its Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Fund. More than 200 attendants helped to raise more than $2,500 for Adopt-A-Student, which provides tuition assistance to deserving and at need students.

The teams (gray and white) largely coached themselves, with current CMHS boys basketball coach Carey Palermo and girls coach Jason Baker acting as referees.
