Main Street Kent is partnering with Labatt and Magic Hat to host the Kent Mardi Crawl beginning at 5 p.m. Feb. 9 in downtown Kent.

The crawl will start at the Venice Cafe, 163 W. Erie St., where attendees can check-in from 5 to 8 p.m. to pick up crawl passes and event T-shirts and to participate in a costume contest. They will then proceed to explore restaurants and bars, collecting Mardi Gras beads, masks and other trinkets.

Participating downtown locations include the Venice Cafe, Water Street Tavern, Ray’s Place, the Loft, Zephyr Pub, Panini’s, Bricco, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dominick’s, Brewhouse Pub and 157 Lounge.

Tickets are available online for $15 at www.eventbrite.com/e/kent-mardi-crawl-tickets-42209303162. All ticket holders who check-in at a minimum of five participating locations (no purchase required) may submit an entry to win prizes at the Water Street Tavern anytime throughout the evening.

For the costume contest, participants can get photos taken at the Venice Cafe from 5 to 8 p.m., and/or post pictures on social media using the hashtag #kentmardicrawl. Prizes will include a downtown Cleveland overnight getaway, complete with hotel accommodations; box seat tickets to a home Cleveland baseball game and more. Prize winners for all contests will be announced Feb. 12. This is an all-weather event and tickets are non-refundable. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, with a portion designated to Freedom House, a transitional housing facility for homeless veterans.
