In keeping with the Canfield High School tradition to honor athletes and teams which have earned the right to compete at the state level, the school had a walk-through for the wrestling team on Feb. 9.

The wrestling team, coached by Steve Pitts, earned a trip to the sixth annual OHSAA State Wrestling Dual Team Tournament at St. John Arena at The Ohio State University on Feb. 11.

Prior to the walk through, CHS Principal Michael Moldovan addressed the student body.

“Today we continue with the Canfield High School tradition of honoring our athletes who have reached a state competition with a walk-through. We are happy today to recognize our wrestling team. I do believe this is the first time our wrestling team has qualified for the state competition. We are very proud of them. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the young men who will be competing at the state level. There are more good things to come from these young men. So step out of your classrooms and show them your support,” Moldovan said.

As the wrestling team walked through the school, the wrestlers were honored by and wished good luck by their classmates, faculty, staff and family members, while also joined by Big Red, the Canfield High School mascot.
