MONDAY
Garden Gate Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. to visit a local winery. Co-hostess will be Louise Vett.
TUESDAY
Girard Herb Society will meet for a picnic at 5 p.m. at Harding Park in Hubbard.
Holborn Herb Growers Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. for preparation for the Canfield Fair at Western Reserve Village gardens and train station at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Members are asked to take garden tools, gloves and trash bags. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be rescheduled for the following week.
SATURDAY
Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will host its Dahlia show from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Alliance Carnation Mall, 2500 W. State St.
Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown will host its 54th Annual Horticultural Show at Fellows Riverside Gardens Saturday and Aug. 26. Youths and adults are invited to view as well as place entries into the show. You do not have to be a member of the MGCY to enter. Two special entries this year will be the Larry Whetson Heaviest Tomato Award and the Boe Korody Largest Zinnia Award. The tomato award is based on weight. The zinnia award is based on diameter but must be a blue-ribbon winner. The best entry in each of these areas will receive a $25 award. Best of Section ribbons also will be given for 14 other areas such as vegetables, annuals, perennials and more. Entries will be accepted from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Entry schedules may be picked up at Fellows Riverside Gardens. The event is free and open to the public. For information, call Rodney Toth at 330-759-1993.
