CLUBS

Monday Night Writers will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Small Meeting Room at the Canfield Public Library, 43 W. Main St, Canfield. Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend. The group is led by professional writer Nancy Christie, author of "Traveling Left Of Center And Other Stories."

Round Table Woodcarvers meet every Thursday from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at the Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Anyone interested in learning about carving is welcome to attend. For information, call 330-792-4355.

Steel Valley Ukers will meet from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road. Beginner instruction is offered during the first half of each session, followed by more complex group tunes and solos. Attendees will learn chords, strum patterns and jam etiquette in a relaxed atmosphere.

Western Reserve Amateur Radio Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday for dinner at Davidson's Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road. The meeting will immediately follow dinner. The guest speaker will be Sara Churchill, digital services librarian for the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, speaking about the services the public library offers the community. RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Youngstown South Christian Women';s Connection will meet for "a Country Fair" luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The feature will be auctioneer, Marty Campana and a Country Fair. Cost is $14 and includes lunch. D.A.R.E. Singles Group meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road. SOCIETIES

William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kravitz's Deli meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave, Liberty. Cost is $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Reservations are suggested, and walk-ins are admitted based upon seating availability. Complimentary refreshments are provided, and entertainment will be by Dolores DePietro. Alzheimer Network Family Support Groups will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St. Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend. All meetings are offered at no charge. For information, call 330-788-9755.

NAMI Mahoning Valley offers Connections support groups for adults living with mental illness, in a discussion format, to promote self-disclosure in a safe, relaxed, supportive and confidential environment. Connections meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6 p.m. at Alta Care Building, 142 Javit Court, Austintown. NAMI Mahoning Valley also offers Family Support Groups that provide information and support for family members and friends of individuals with mental illness. Family groups meet the first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St.; and the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Alta Care, 142 Javit Court. St. Joseph Church, Austintown, will offer DivorceCare, a 12-week course/discussion group for those who are going through or have gone through a separation or divorce. It addresses through education and discussion the most common issues associated with divorce/separation and promotes powerful healing so that participants can move on to build a new life. The three components of DivorceCare are educational video presentations, supportive and safe group discussions facilitated by trained facilitators who have experienced divorce, and resources for home use. DivorceCare will be offered for 12 consecutive Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 10. Participants do not be members of St. Joseph or any church to participate. Survivors of Suicide, Columbiana County will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Columbiana Counseling Center, 40722 state Route 154 in Lisbon. TOPS 327 is seeking new members who want to Take Off Pounds Sensibly. Meeting will take place Monday at Christ Church Presbyterian, 1933 Canfield Road, Boardman.
