Group to host speaker

CANFIELD

Reinactor Marilyn Mong will speak to the World War II Heritage Group at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Al A Cart Catering. The speech will be preceded by a buffet meal at a cost of $14 per person. Reservations can be made by contacting David Frank at 330-757-0515 by Thursday. Her presentation will feature the WASP pilots of World War II, the women pilots who served in many roles supplementing the Army Air Corp. Mong has a private pilot license with instrument rating. She also is qualified as a hot air balloon pilot. Mong has belonged to the Lake Erie Chapter of woman pilots the "99's" as well as the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Balloon Federation of America.

Church to celebrate 100th anniversary

STRUTHERS

St. John A.M.E. Church of Struthers is inviting the community to join in its 100th anniversary celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark Orthodox Church Hall, 3560 Logan Way, Youngstown. The guest speaker will be Elder P. Robert Tate.

Historical society to host lunch program

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society's next Bites and Bits of History lunch program will be at noon at the Tyler History Center, 325 West Federal St. Jenni Salamon, coordinator of the Ohio Digital Newspaper Program at the Ohio History Connection, will present "All About Chronicling America's Foreign Language Newspapers." A brief overview of Ohio's foreign language press will also be provided. Participants should take lunch or visit Overture for the $6 Bites and Bits lunch special. Local club to host mixer at V2

The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals Club will host a mixer from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at V2 Wine Bar, 1302, 100 W. Federal St. The event will feature networking, appetizers and a cash bar. Rotary to host Duck Race on Saturday

STRUTHERS

The Struthers Rotary will host its Annual Duck Race at 11 a.m. Saturday at Yellow Creek Park. There will be a basket auction and tickets may be purchased from 9 a.m. to noon at $10 for 25 tickets. The race will begin at noon. The baskets will be a variety of themes from coffee to pizza to bowling and more.

Class to meet for lunch Monday

The women of the South High School Class of 1956 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Davidson's Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road. All women from the class, spouses and friends are invited to attend.
