ASSOCIATIONS
American Association of University Women Youngstown Branch will meet at St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, at 10 a.m. May 12. The meeting will begin in the church parlor on the ground floor of the parish house. Refreshments will be served, and veteran church tour guides, William Farragher and Emma Jones, will share bits of history about the church. Then, they will lead tours of the sanctuary. Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will host its May 8 meeting at A La Cart Catering in Canfield beginning with networking at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30. The menu will include southern baked chicken, beef tips over noodles, sandtrap potatoes, peas and carrots, salad, applesauce, gelatin and dessert. Cost is $18. Youngstown South Christian Women's Connection will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 9 at the Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The luncheon is titled “The Earth is Bursting with Color,” and will feature Shannon Lehn from the Austintown Farmers' Market. William Burney, executive director of the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence for Youngstown, will discuss strategies for navigating workplace violence issues, having a plan in place and implementation of programs to ensure safety and compliance. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support and education to people and families dealing with serious mental illness.
