Students to host charity walk
NEW WILMINGTON, PA
Students in the Westminster College School of Business will host the first annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Saturday. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a one mile walk through campus to support the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County. The event is open to all and registration is $5. Registration will take place at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will follow at 9, starting at the Old Main Senior Terrace. Proceeds will benefit the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, an organization committed to providing leadership initiatives to help end physical, sexual and emotional violence. Students present special projects

Students at Joshua Dixon Elementary School recently combined art, writing and research to create a unique project. Third-grade students presented their biography bottles to the entire school before spring break. They had to research an individual who has made a contribution to the world and complete a writing assignment about the person. Research and writing was done at school. The other part of the assignment was an art project, depicting the person studied. Students used two liter bottles as a 3D character representation. Steve Jobs, Roberto Clemente, Harry Houdini and Anne Frank were some of the influential people students created.
Students lead Business Plan Competition

Of the 14 student teams still in the running for the top prize in the seventh annual Business Plan Competition, four of them, the most from any state system school, are from Clarion University. The annual competition provides student entrepreneurs an opportunity to pitch their original business plans and to win funds to assist in the start-up or expansion of their businesses. Students from the 14 state system universities were invited to participate in the competition. Nearly 200 students and student teams submitted ideas.
Thiel receives funds
GREENVILLE, PA
A record 342 donors recently gave $150,365 to Thiel College’s one-day fundraising drive for The Thiel Fund. It is the third straight year that the college broke participation records and also the third-straight year with more than 300 donors. To foster giving, the institution created rewards to encourage alumni, staff and friends of the school to “unlock awesome.” Short videos showing alumni, faculty and staff engaged in funny physical challenges were revealed as fundraising goals were met.
