Player fact: DeShields passed for 270 yards and a school record-tying six touchdown passes during a 49-45 loss to Alliance last Friday. DeShields also ran for a touchdown and 11 yards. DeShields is the Mahoning Valley’s leading passer, going 83 for 131 with an area-high 1,063 yards and 14 touchdowns to five interceptions. The Warriors are 1-3 on the season.

Player fact: In his first game of the season after recovering from an injury, Jenkins made 12 tackles (seven solo) and two sacks as the Golden Bears won their first game, defeating Niles. Jenkins was instrumental in a fourth-quarter goal-line stand goal, stopping the Red Dragons after they started the series at the 1. On first down, Jenkins made a tackle for loss. He assisted on the second-down tackle and made the stop on a third-down quarterback run, setting up an incomplete pass on fourth down.
