Additional tentative data from the results of this year’s property revaluation in Mahoning County shows growth in Canfield Township’s residential property values and stability in Boardman and Austintown.
Ohio law requires all county auditors to establish current fair-market value for all county properties every six years.
While property values maintained relatively stable across the county, areas such as the city of Youngstown saw a significant decline – a 13.4 percent drop in residential property values – and Poland saw gains – a 6.3 percent increase.
The total value of residential properties in Canfield Township rose 9.1 percent from a current value of $738.4 million to a proposed value of $805.4 million. Agricultural properties also rose 7.9 percent, while commercial and industrial properties remained stable.
Austintown saw agricultural property rise 9.8 percent from $12.7 million to $14 million and industrial property rise 7.2 percent from $68.2 million to $73.1 million. Residential and commercial rose by about 1 percent each.
All categories in Boardman remained within a percentage point or two of current values with the exception of a 6 percent decline from $6.3 million to $5.9 million in agricultural property values.
