Mount Union 43, Ohio Northern 14

ALLIANCE

The defense for No. 2 ranked Mount Union put the Ohio Northern Polar Bears on ice in the Ohio Athletic Conference win at Mount Union Stadium.

Mount Union (4-0, 3-0 OAC) forced three turnovers and scored a touchdown as they held Ohio Northern (2-2, 1-2 OAC) to 45 yards in the first half and a season-low 214 yards for the game. Gabe Brown returned the first interception 89 yards for a score then later tipped a pass that was intercepted by Trevor Cox. Northern finished the scoring as Will Freed hit Malachi Nolletti for a second TD pass this time from seven yards out.

Westminster 24, Thomas More 21

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY.

The Westminster College football team defeated Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thomas More College in thrilling fashion in overtime. Westminster improved its record to 3-1 (2-0 PAC) on the year, while Thomas more dropped to 1-4 (0-3). The Titans found the end zone on their first possession of the game off a one-yard touchdown run from senior Kimu Kim. An extra point by John Cybak made the game 7-0 for the rest of the quarter. Thomas More’s Hjavier Pitts scored from three yards out and Saints kicker Cole Mathias converted the point after to tie the game up with 1:27 lef. Cybak kicked the 33-yard field goal to win the game for Westminster.

Grove City 21, Waynesburg 14

WAYNESBURG, PA.

Led by a punishing, time-consuming running game and stout defense, the Grove City College football team pulled out a victory in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play at Wiley Stadium. Grove City broke a 14-14 tie with 2:26 left in the third quarter when Randall Labrie scored on a one-yard sneak. Tyler Perone’s seven-yard touchdown pass to Austin Wilson on the first play of the second quarter tied the game 7-7. Grove City answered with an 11-play, 75-yard drive that Schools capped with a three-yard touchdown run. Waynesburg forged the 14-14 tie with 20 seconds left in the half as Perone threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Chad Walker.

Allegheny 57, Hiram 40

MEADVILLE, PA.

The big play proved troublesome for the Hiram College football team, as the Terriers found themselves on the wrong end of a decision to Allegheny. The Gators struck for the splash play all evening, posting six touchdown plays of over 20 yards, including five through the air. The Terriers opened the game in a flurry, scoring the first 13 points of the contest. Allegheny scored 21 of their 36 first-half points off of Hiram turnovers. Allegheny would add a ten yard TD run of their own to round out the scoring at 57-40.

Wabash 33, Wooster 28

WOOSTER

Gary Muntean, a Struthers High School Graduate, went 10-for-21 for 229 yards and four touchdowns during Wooster’s 33-28 loss to No. 25 Wabash. On the game’s opening play, Muntean connected with Nick Strausbaugh on a 72-yard touchdown, and the two connected for a 56-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter. It was Muntean’s third game with at least four passing touchdowns this season, and the fifth of his career. Muntean has 49 career touchdowns, the third-most in program history and 10 shy of the all-time school record. With his 229 yards, Muntean surpassed 1,500 in 2017 at the halfway point of the season.
