Flying HIGH

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Flying HIGH Inc. Professional Development Center, 87 Bissell Ave., for the opening of its new welding school Friday.

Also on Friday, Flying HIGH will announce the receipt of a $4 million award from the U.S. Department of Labor’s TechHire Partnership grants. Flying HIGH Inc. was the only organization in Ohio to be awarded the TechHire funds, which are being used to implement the Mahoning Valley Partnership for Employment project.

Sweeney reopens

Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC announced Wednesday the reopening of Sweeney Buick GMC sales operations at the 7997 Market St. location. After the Sweeney Buick GMC building was damaged by a storm Nov. 5, the Sweeney family combined operations in their Sweeney Chevrolet building at 8010 Market St.

The Buick GMC building sustained water damage and major structural damage to the service and parts operations as well as some executive offices and storage areas. While the sales department is open at Sweeney Buick GMC, the organization will continue to operate service and parts in the Sweeney Chevrolet building until further repairs can be made.

Ribbon-cutting

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Pulp Juice & Smoothie Bar, 1449 Boardman-Canfield Road Unit 190, at 10 a.m. Friday.

Pulp Juice and Smoothie Bar offers real fruit and vegetable juices in its smoothies, with more than 30 fruit smoothies to choose from.

Studio Pump

The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce had a red-ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday at Studio Pump, Town Center at Firestone Farms. Studio Pump, Columbiana offers skilled instructors, power programs and full-body workouts.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted on Wednesday announced 9,250 new entities filed to do business in Ohio throughout the month of October, an increase of 969 when compared with the same month in 2016.

Retail sales

WASHINGTON

Retail sales in October increased 0.1 percent over September on a seasonally adjusted basis and were up 4.3 percent year-over-year unadjusted, according to calculations released Wednesday by the National Retail Federation. The numbers exclude automobiles, gasoline stations and restaurants.
