7 cited for OVI over holiday weekend

YOUNGSTOWN

Seven people were arraigned in municipal court Tuesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol after being cited over the holiday weekend.

Five of the seven were cited by troopers of the Canfield Barracks of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and one each by the city police department and the Youngstown State University Police Department.

Of the seven cited, three of them also were charged with the specification they had a blood-alcohol content of 0.17 or more. In Ohio, a driver is considered impaired if they have a BAC of 0.08.

Those who were cited are:

Gloria Veal, 49, who was cited by the state patrol Sunday at South and Dewey avenues on the South Side. She also was cited for the BAC specification.

William Dean, 34, who was cited by the state patrol Sunday on East Avondale Avenue on the South Side.

Carlyn Turner, 29, who was cited by the patrol Saturday on Marmion Avenue on the South Side.

Edmund Chojnacki, 57, who was cited Saturday by YSU police at Fifth Avenue and Grant Street on the North Side. He also was cited for the BAC specification.

Jessica Raisky, 22, who was cited Friday by the state patrol at Mahoning and Dunlap avenues on the West Side. She was also cited for the BAC specification.

Lewrica Velazquez, 28, who was cited Friday by the state patrol. Court records do not indicate where she was stopped.

Carlos Cuevas Garcia, 31, who was cited by city police Friday after he was caught after a high-speed chase on the East Side.
