ASSOCIATIONS

Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA will meet June 13 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Networking will be at 6 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30. Paul Miletta of Torrie’s Academy of Dance will be the speaker. The menu comprises baked ham, kielbasa with sauerkraut, pirogies, peas and carrots, salad, gelatin and strawberry mousse for dessert. The cost is $18 and the deadline for reservations is Wednesday. Parents Without Partners, International Chapter 600 of Portage County, will host a pulled-pork supper with side dishes, desserts and coffee from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 3 at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge. Cost is $6. The monthly dance will take place from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Nonmembers are invited to join the PWP members to celebrate the June dance theme, “Bring Your Best Friend.” Cost for the dance is $6 for members and $8 for nonmembers. Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. will host its fifth annual Women of Distinction luncheon at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Members are asked to wear white with NCNW scarves and arrive at 10:30 a.m. for a group photo.

Niles Chapter of the American

Girard Men’s Democratic Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parkwood Youth Center.

Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club will meet at 6 p.m. June 5 at S.C.O.P.E of Trumbull County Inc., 220 W. Market St., Warren. This is the annual social networking meeting. Youngstown South Women’s Connection will meet June 14 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. It will feature David Shovel of The Barbecue Grill. D.A.R.E. has scheduled the following activities: 7 p.m. Saturday, bowling at Boardman Lanes; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Memorial Day picnic at Masters Pavilion in Boardman Park; 6:30 p.m. Thursday, music in Boardman Park; and 6 to 10 p.m. June 2, card night at Denny’s on U.S. Route 224.

SOCIETIES

Girard Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. June 3 at Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St.

Struthers Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. June 4 at 50 Terrace St., on the corner next to city hall, for a presentation from Civil War re-enactor Ron Johnson from The Sons of the Confederacy. All are welcome.

Trumbull County Historical Society will host a talk about Neil Armstrong at 2 p.m. June 4. Dan Mathey will present the free, family-friendly program, part of the Summer Sundays on Monroe Street series, featuring Warren’s oldest homes and historic museums. Light refreshments will be provided, and tours of the John Stark Edwards House and Trumbull County Museum will be available from 3 to 5 p.m. Free tours also are available from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Friendship Train 12-Step Support Group is now meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave. People who are trying to overcome any addiction are welcome and encouraged to attend. Those attending should enter through the church’s lower parking lot off Wardle.

Nar-Anon, a 12-step program for relatives and friends affected by a loved one’s addiction to drugs, meets at 7 p.m. every Friday at Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road SE, Warren, and at 7 p.m. every Sunday upstairs at the Sahara Club, 2345 Youngstown Road SE, Warren.
