Moms and daughters wore their best outfits to the 13th annual Mommy and Me for Tea Fashion Show at Boardman Park on May 7.

There were two times for the mothers and daughters to attend and more than 170 people came to the event. The program started with tea, sandwiches, pastries and other refreshments for everyone to eat and drink. When the meal was finished, guests went to the other room to make crafts and participate in the runway show.

“It’s just a fun afternoon for the moms and daughters to have lunch, do some crafts and have a picture taken,” said Boardman Park Recreation Director Karen McCallum.

The event was filled with several mothers and daughters come as a yearly tradition, while others came for the first time. Many of the mothers say they enjoy coming back because it gives them an opportunity to spend time with their daughters making items to take home and forming new memories.

Students from the Emerging Leaders Club at Boardman High School volunteered to help with the different stations. The students said they liked seeing the mothers and daughters come in wearing their best outfits, make cute and easy crafts and spend quality time together.

The event finished off with a runway fashion show. Mothers took a seat as their daughters strutted their stuff down the runway. As the daughters walked down, McCallum would describe what they’re wearing, what they like and a little bit about them.

“It’s made to be a fun, seasonal, holiday day to spend with mom,” said Karen McCallum.
