The Gries mark 50 years of marriage June 3

Edward and Katherine Gries of Youngstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 3 with a family dinner at The Phoenix in Canfield. The celebration will be hosted by their daughters and their husbands, Cynthia (David) Zouck and Cheryl (Robert) Ashford. The Gries’ have one grandson, Bradley Zouck and six step-grandchildren, Lisa, Clyde, Bobby, Chrissy and Eric, and the late Jamie. They also have 11 step great-grandchildren.

The former Katherine Nenadich and Mr. Gries were married June 3, 1967, at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Youngstown. The couple are members of St. Brendan Church.

Mrs. Gries retired as a domestic/housekeeper in 2012. She is a member of the Upper West Side Crime Watch and the Loose Knit Group. Mr. Gries retired from the chemical lab of U.S. Steel in 1980. He also worked with the Ohio Department of Liquor Control and retired in 1996 as a sales clerk. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963, and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
