Captain Underpants surprised children at the Poland library on June 23.
There were games, activities and crafts for children set up all around the library that were related to the “Captain Underpants” book series.
Jen Kuczek, Mary Yee and Ashley Young, librarians with the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, all dressed up in giant pairs of underwear over their clothing. They also had “Captain Underpants” nicknames written on their nametags.
The program started out with a story and a game of who could guess all the names of the “Captain Underpants” characters.
As the children moved on to the different games and activities, they received a special surprise from “Captain Underpants” himself. Kuczek, dressed fully in a “Captain Underpants” costume, walked around signing books and posters and taking pictures with the children.
Children could create their own “Captain Underpants” nicknames, play with “Poo-Dough,” decorate a pair of underpants and more.
The “Captain Underpants” books were set out on tables that the children could check out as they left the party.
