The cabaret duo of Mary Jo Maluso and Rick Blackson, will present two master classes on the fundamentals of singing in August.
“Belt It Out! A Master Class on the Fundamentals of Singing” will take place Aug. 20.
“Tell the Story: Fine Tuning Your Ability to Interpret Lyrics and Perform a Song” will take place Aug. 27.
Both classes begin at 2 p.m. at Solich Music, between the new Gia’s and Blue Wolf on U.S. route 224.
“Belt It Out!” will help experienced singers as well as beginners achieve a better sound. Attendees will learn how to troubleshoot common problems and will increase their ability to project their voice.
“Tell the Story” is a fast-paced class that will be especially helpful to experienced singers who want to become better performers. Music teachers and directors will learn helpful teaching techniques by observing Blackson at work.
The couple will supplement the instruction with entertaining demonstrations.
Those who attend may simply observe or get up in front of the class and “belt it out!” All attendees can get an opportunity to work one-on-one with Blackson during the class as time permits.
The fee is $75 per person for three hours plus the Master Class, or $100 for both Master Classes.
There is a family discount of $10 per family member if parent/child, or siblings participate. Register by July 31 and receive $10 off.
