City man back in jail after short chase by police
YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a man arrested about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday following a chase on the East Side is on probation for an aggravated robbery charge in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Officers also said they found a loaded .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun inside the car driven by Amontae Traylor, 24, of Sunshine Avenue, who is in the Mahoning County jail on reports of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing and eluding and aggravated menacing.
Police were called to Shehy Street and Medina Avenue by a man who said he was being followed by someone who fired a shot at him the day before. When police arrived the suspect, later identified as Traylor, drove away and led police on a chase, at one point driving against the flow of traffic on Lincoln Park Drive before abandoning his car at Lincoln Park Drive and Shehy Street. Traylor was caught after a short foot chase.
The victim made a police report Monday saying Traylor fired several shots at him during an argument.
Court records show Traylor was placed on probation for a 2015 charge of aggravated robbery.
