Suspect sought

LIBERTY

Police in Trumbull County are searching for a man wanted in connection with an purported aggravated assault and robbery about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the Liberty Mini Mart, 3007 Belmont Ave.

The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, reported that Robert Lee Anderson II, 38, is accused of beating up his girlfriend and stealing her car, nearly running over the woman as he drove away.

The woman told police that she and Anderson had been living together in Hubbard, but he moved out Saturday night, and she was taking him to friend’s house.

The woman was injured and taken to the hospital. Police recovered the vehicle, but the suspect still is at large.

Small-plane crash

BELOIT

Thomas Warner, 62, of Alliance escaped injury when his Cessna 182 crashed and overturned on the pilot’s second attempt to land at Tri-City Airport about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield Post report.

The OHSP said the Cessna 182 was northbound when attempting to land the first time, but struck the ground prior to reaching the landing strip and damaged the nose-gear tire. The pilot took off after hitting the ground and attempted a second landing on a grass strip west of the regular landing strip when the plane again struck the ground and overturned onto its top.

The OSHP is investigating the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified and also will conduct investigations.
