Unique vocal act coming to campus

GROVE CITY, Pa.

Olga Vocal Ensemble, a cutting-edge Dutch a cappella group, will come to Ketler Auditorium in the Pew Fine Arts Center at Grove City College on Feb. 7 for a 7:30 p.m. concert.

The quintet approaches traditions in a fresh way, combining vocal clarity with enthusiasm, humor and drama. The all-male act’s repertoire covers more than five centuries, from medieval Icelandic drinking songs to nostalgic tunes of the past and hits of the present. Classical repertoire from Strauss, Mendelssohn and Vaughan Williams are set against Bruno Mars and Edith Piaf in a fusion of sounds.

Home show coming to Metroplex center

LIBERTY

The all-new Nature Stone Tri County Home Show will take place Jan. 27-29 at the newly remodeled Metroplex Expo Center on Belmont Avenue.

The show will feature more than 100 exhibitors, specializing in home remodeling and decor in Trumbull, Mahoning and Mercer counties. It is designed to give visitors the first shot at discounted preseason prices.

Admission and parking are free.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Irish music night at St. Joseph hall

SHARON, PA.

The annual Night of Irish Music will be Jan. 28 in the Social Hall of St Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave. Doors open at 6:30.

The event, sponsored by the A.O.H. and the Knights of Columbus, will feature the best local and regional Irish singers, musicians, bagpipers and step dancers.

Irish food and beverages will be sold, and the House of Erin will sell Irish wares.

There is no admission fee, but donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the food pantry.

Baseball player on ‘Vikings’

NEW YORK

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson, the 2015 American League MVP, will make his acting debut on Wednesday’s episode of the History Channel’s drama series “Vikings.”

Donaldson will play the role of Hoskuld, a Viking warrior of great skill. The show airs at 9 p.m. He filmed the episode in Ireland in January 2016.
