STRUTHERS

Three city council members said goodbye during their final council meeting Wednesday night, and one incoming administrator has already resigned.

During the meeting, Mayor Terry Stocker reported the incoming treasurer, Linda Morell, abruptly resigned Dec. 21 for unspecified reasons.

The city’s current treasurer, Matthew Rhoads, will continue to serve in the position until Jan. 4 when a new treasurer is selected.

Those interested in the position can apply at the Struthers administration building on Elm Street.

Councilwoman Carol Crytzer, D-2nd, Councilman Robert Carcelli, D-4th, and Councilman-at-large James Kosek will be leaving council at the end of the year.

Crytzer was defeated in the 2017 primary election by incoming councilman Ron Carcelli, while both Kosek and Robert Carcelli chose not to run again after their two-year term limit. They will be replaced by Rick Bayus and Dallas Bigley, respectively.

Members of the current administration thanked the outgoing members for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors.
