Ohio CAN (Change Addiction Now) Mahoning County will host its third annual FED UP! International Overdose Awareness event from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown.
The event will honor all of Mahoning County’s 2017 drug overdose victims with luminara candles, with tags identifying each victim. Members of the public are encouraged to light candles for loved ones they’ve lost or who are struggling. People struggling with or recovering from addiction themselves also are invited to light a candle.
The event will feature speakers, resource tables, music and a candlelight vigil.
“We’re there because we want to keep the spotlight on the epidemic,” said Hope Lovrinoff-Moran, Ohio CAN Mahoning County coordinator.
She said the event also aims to offer support to people who are recovering from addiction.
The church is at 1105 Elm St., across from Wick Park.
