Man accused of hitting parked car fails sobriety test, police report

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a man who plowed into a parked car Tuesday evening had a blood alcohol content more than three and a half times the legal limit for driving drunk.

Officers were called about 10 p.m. to the parking lot of C Staples Restaurant, 372 W. Rayen, where a man told them he was sitting in his car in the parking lot when an SUV driven by Russell Taylor, 36, of Katherine Street, struck his car.

Reports said when officers spoke to Taylor, his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol. He admitted to having two beers and after he failed a field sobriety test he admitted to being drunk, reports said.

Taylor agreed to take a BAC test at the city police station where his BAC was registered at .296. In Ohio, someone is considered driving drunk if their BAC is .08 or higher.
