OktoBEERfest set at Hollywood Gaming

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course will host OktoBEERfest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30.

Tickets for the festival are on sale.

Standard tickets cost $25 before the event or $35 the day of the event. Tickets include a 4-ounce souvenir tasting cup and 15 drink tickets with a noon to 5 p.m. entry.

Early-admission tickets can be purchased for $35 before the event and $45 the day of the event. Early admission will include both the souvenir cup and tasting tickets but will include an 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. entry. Tickets also will be available for designated drivers for $10. Those tickets include unlimited water and soda, plus a Bratwurst or an order of pretzel bites.

The event will include more than 20 vendors.

Disco Inferno will perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a tribute band from 3 to 5 p.m. Entertainment-only tickets will cost $5.

Taking applications for apprenticeships

The Mahoning Valley Structural Iron Workers is accepting applications for apprenticeships through Sept. 15.

A copy of the application form can be found at www.iw207.com or it can be picked up at the Iron Workers Training Center, 98 Bev Road.

Applicants must include in their application: a transcript of high-school grades or General Education Development test scores; a military service certificate of completion if applicable; and a valid driver’s license.

Apprentices must be 18 years old; have a high-school diploma or equivalent; are physically capable of performing the work; be able to pass a drug test and physical; and have a driver’s license and transportation.

First-year apprentices make $16.84 per hour plus $18.82 in benefits; fourth-year apprentice pay goes up to $25.25 per hour and $24.38 in benefits. A journeyman iron workers makes $28.06 per hour with $25 in benefits.

Marketing 101 event

The Meeting Success Chapter of Business Networking International is teaming up with iM Image Marketing to offer a free networking event and workshop on Marketing 101 at noon Aug. 30. The workshop will be led by Hannah Keeling, office manager of iM Image Marketing and Marketing Specialist, and hosted by Davidson’s Restaurant and Tavern, 3636 Canfield Road.

This networking event and Marketing 101 workshop are free for the community.
