The FirstEnergy Foundation surprised the Beatitude House with an unsolicited grant of $10,000 as part of its “Christmas in July” campaign, a new giving initiative designed to support community organizations. The Beatitude House, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters, is committed to assisting disadvantaged women and children.
Overall, 12 “Christmas in July” gifts were awarded – one in each of the service areas for FirstEnergy’s 10 utilities, including Ohio Edison, and one each to organizations near the company’s nuclear- and fossil-fuel generation operations.
“Those chosen were selected by FirstEnergy employees, who identified organizations in their geographic location that do extraordinary work to make our communities a better place to live and work,” said Dee Lowery, president of the FirstEnergy Foundation. “We’re very pleased to provide these surprise grants to support ongoing investment in the quality of life in our service areas.”
The foundation’s campaign follows a similar campaign last December called “Gifts of the Season” in which 12 organizations were granted surprise gifts in honor of their work in communities where FirstEnergy has operations.
