Champions for Our Valley’s Children to recognize contributors

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will host its seventh annual Champions for Our Valley’s Children dinner May 9 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road.

The dinner will recognize those who have contributed significantly to the hospital, including donors, volunteers, staff and community partners. Since the Beeghly campus in Boardman opened in 2008, more than $19.4 million has been donated to support the hospital’s mission.

James H. Sisek, Esq., will be honored as the 2017 Champion for his financial contributions, support and advocacy for the hospital’s local programs and services. He is a member of the Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation board of directors, and serves on the hospital’s community leadership council.

Recipients of the Children’s Advocate award include Fostering Dreams; Inspiring Minds; Oh Wow! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center Board of Directors; Operation Search and Help; Resource Mothers; and United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

Corporate Champion Sponsors for the event are Aqua Ohio; Chemical Bank, Farmers Bank; Farmers Trust Company; Tod Foundation; Schmutz Family Foundation; and Western Reserve Building & Construction Trades Council. Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Kids’ Crew members who are a part of the event committee include Carole Bertolini; Cathy Campana; Jenna Cicchillo; Betty Cmil, D.J. Depp, Sharon Flask, Donna Hayat, Stephanie Mikouis, Joan Motheral, Sperry Rongone, Sheila Williams, Susan Berny and Patty Julian and committee cochairmen Margaret Nigro and Carol Sankovic. Hospital Kids Crew staff members are Charlotte Diss, development coordinator, and JoAnn Stock, senior director of development.
