Canfield City Town Hall will host a town hall meeting on May 4 at 6:30-8 p.m. at the MCCTC Joyce Brooks Center, located at 7300 N. Palmyra Road in Canfield.

Canfield city families and friends are encouraged to come to the meeting to celebrate Canfield and discuss the future of the city. There will be recognition and awards of accomplishments, as well as concerns and plans for the future. A question and answer with City Council and city staff will also be offered.

“As you may know, Canfield is one of the safest cities in the Mahoning Valley, in Ohio and in the U.S. Recent cuts in state funding and other revenue reductions placed us in jeopardy,” Mayor Bernie Kosar wrote in a recent email regarding the meeting to Canfield Neighbors staff. “Citizens approved a police levy in 2016 to close the financial Revenue gap caused by the reductions. Levy revenue will not be available until 2018; 2017 will be a lean year for our city. We are dedicated to keeping Canfield safe for all, especially our most vulnerable: our children and seniors.”

Kosar expressed the importance of all city residents attending the May meeting who can attend.

“Please attend our May Town Hall,” he wrote. “It is a critically important meeting. Our city is financially challenged and must look for ways to increase revenue without increasing taxes. The decisions we make now will affect us for years to come.”
