Children’s book festival set

YOUNGSTOWN

The 11th “Plant the Seed to Read” Children’s Book Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Park’s Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave.

Admission is free.

In attendance will be David Fitzsimmons, an award-winning photographer and author; Michael Perry, a storyteller; Nancy K. Wallace, an author and storyteller; and Tim Hartman, an actor and storyteller.

The event also will feature Nature Cat, the PBS character; Booker Bear, the local library mascot; the library system’s Pop Up Library; Magpie, the folk-singing duo; and a program by the Carnegie Science Center.

Parents may photograph their children with Nature Cat.

The event is a partnership of Altrusa International of Youngstown, the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Mill Creek MetroParks and Western Reserve PBS.
