AUCTIONS
Austintown Growth Foundation will have a quarter auction Thursday to benefit its scholarship fund for Austintown High School seniors. It will take place at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 6. There will be prizes, gift baskets and door prizes. Pizza slices will be $1. Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Joseph the Provider Cultural Society, will sponsor its annual basket auction Sunday at 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Doors open at 10 a.m. and the auction starts at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes one sheet of tickets, a bowl of haluski and a cookie.
Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will host its annual basket auction April 30 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the auction begins at 3. Admission is $5, and includes 25 tickets for auction items and refreshments. Hot dogs, beverages and cookies will be available for purchase. There will be more than 100 auction items, a split-the-pot and a hat raffle. Profits will go to the education fund for scholarships and for members to attend leadership conferences.
St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, will sponsor its third quarter auction April 28. The event is for adults (21 and older). Doors open at 6 p.m. and the auction begins at 7. Tickets are $10 and include admission and a bidding paddle. There also will be 50-50 and lottery tree raffles. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. St. Joseph the Provider School will host its annual basket and gift auction with a buffet dinner Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and buffet begins at 6:30, and includes baked Italian chicken, cavatelli and meatballs, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, roasted Idaho and sweet potatoes, Italian blend vegetables, salad, dessert, coffee and tea and cash bar. Entertainment will be provided by Jim Loboy. Tickets are $25 and include dinner and 25 tickets, available at the school office, 330-259-0353, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown. No tickets will be sold at the door. Winners do not need to be present.
BINGO AND CARDS
St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., will host a card and bingo party at 1:30 p.m. April 30 at Maxwell Hall. The cost is $5 and lunch is included.
FAIRS, FESTIVALS
Simply Slavic Festival organizers are seeking authentic Slavic retail, crafts, fine arts and food vendors for its 7th annual Simply Slavic Festival from noon to 11 p.m. June 17 on Federal Plaza East, downtown Youngstown. There is space for 15 food vendors and 10 marketplace vendors. Openings will be filled according to timing of request and the need to maintain a variety of options for the booths. FLEA MARKETS
Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., Cortland, will host a rummage and bake sale, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 28, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 29. On April 29, there will be a $2 bag special, and items that are too large to fit in a bag will be half-price. The sale is sponsored by Cortland United Methodist Women, and will benefit mission projects.
FUNDRAISERS
Book Review and a Good Lunch Too fundraiser will take place Saturday at Golden Rye Grille, 10745 Main St., New Middletown, sponsored by the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. Tickets are $20 and lunch is included. “Nine Women, One Dress” by Jane L. Rosen, will be reviewed by Regina Reese. All proceeds will benefit the Springfield Library Capital Campaign. Golden String Radio’s eighth annual beer, wine and chocolate taste will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthias Father Snock Center, 2800 Shady Run Road, Youngstown. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. All proceeds will benefit Golden String Radio, an online radio station run by adults with disabilities. NIGHTS AT THE RACES
Rich Center for Autism is hosting its fourth annual Night at the Races Saturday at St. Michael Family Life Center, 350 N. Broad St., Canfield. Doors open at 6 p.m., and races begin at 6:45. The Rich Center is tuition-free and relies on private donations, grants and fundraising events to bridge the gap for expenses.
RAFFLES
Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., is hosting raffles for chances to win a 50-inch flat screen LED television and a $225 prepaid Visa gift card. Tickets are $5 and winners will be announced at the annual Cars are the Stars 3 benefit classic car show set for June 3 (rain date June 10). Proceeds will benefit the center. Austintown Night Out committee is hosting a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Vendor spaces are $10 each and the event will be outside regardless of the weather. Vendors are welcome to take canopies. Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will host a spring trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 and 4. May 4 is bargain day. Coffee, lunch and doughnuts will be available.
Canfield Heritage Foundation will host Trunk and Treasure sales at Loghurst Museum, 3967 Boardman-Canfield Road, Canfield. They will take place the first and third Sundays of each month beginning May 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Set up will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Cost is $10 per vehicle, vendors may sell from trunks or truck-beds, or use tents or tables in the space. Poland Lions are hosting a Treasures of the Trunk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 at Poland High School stadium parking lot. Vendors are being sought for this one-day sale from the trunk of your car. Crafters, home goods, furniture, toys, specialty items and garage sale items are welcome. There are 100 spaces. Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be toys, books, household items, holiday decor and more. Specialty items, lunch and baked goods also will be for sale. There will be a basket raffle. Drawings will take place at the end of the sale, winners do not need to be present. Proceeds from the sale will be used for church repairs and missions.
TRIPS
Alexander Hamilton/Idora Park Carousel trip planned for July 18 through 20. See where Hamilton lived, dueled, dined and died, and ride the Idora Park Carousel.
