Church disrupted, kids threatened

Friday, April 14, 2017

A man was arraigned Thursday in Campbell Municipal Court after police say he disrupted a Bible study meeting and made threats.

George Chalfant, 20, of Campbell faces misdemeanor charges of disrupting a lawful meeting, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and obstructing official business.

Police responded Tuesday evening to a report of a masked man who ran into the Jehovah’s Church of God on Reed Avenue and then ran out. Officers reported chasing Chalfant as he ran away on foot. Children later told police Chalfant had threatened to burn down their house if they “narc-ed” on him. Chalfant’s court-appointed attorney, Andrea Burton, could not be reached for comment Thursday. Chalfant will appear in court May 2 for a pretrial hearing.
