“First Dates” (8 p.m., NBC): Love could be in the air as “First Dates” debuts. It’s a voyeuristic reality series that peeks into the fun and awkward moments that happen during an assortment of real first dates throughout one night at a Chicago restaurant.

Mark Wade to give an eclectic concert
SALEM
Mark Wade and his wife, Cristina, will perform in concert at 7 tonight in the meeting room of the Dale Shaffer Research Library, 239 S. Lundy Ave. Admission is $10 with an additional $5 covering all children in a family.
Wade performs American traditional music from fiddle tunes to Texas swing to jazz, and his program will feature an array of unusual instruments. Wade also plays trumpet in several regional orchestras and teaches several instruments from his studio in Akron.
Tonight’s concert is sponsored by Dulci-More: Folk and Traditional Musicians.
Short film, video fest seeks entries
NEW CASTLE, PA.
The Hoyt Center for the Arts and Slippery Rock University are accepting submissions for the inaugural Short Film and Video Festival, which will take place at the fourth annual Arts on the Riverwalk festival Sept. 9 at the Warner Film Center.
The festival aims to support emerging and developing filmmakers within a 250-mile radius of New Castle in two categories: Junior (age 13-17) and Adult (18 and up).
Short film and video entries must be no longer than 20 minutes and will be judged by a jury of filmmakers led by Jon Shumway, art department chairman, Slippery Rock University.
