Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., is offering the following program: Presque Isle Casino on Tuesday. The cost is $22 with $25 in free slot play. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, community fun day at Boardman Park at 10 a.m. and diabetic empowerment education program at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, computer class at 9 and 11 a.m., brush, knife and needle club and Petersburg Fun Day at Petersburg Presbyterian Church at 10, beginner and intermediate duplicate bridge at noon and Drums Alive at 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, watercolors and Bereavement Support Group at 10 a.m., tap class at noon, 500 bid card club at 1 p.m. and line dancing at 1:30; Thursday, The Meadows Casino and Race Track at 8 a.m., woodcarvers at 9, multi media art and socialization at noon and Texas Hold’em at 2 p.m.; and Friday, card and board games at noon, ROM exercise at 1 p.m. and color expressions for stress and relaxation at 2. Senior Corps RSVP, located in First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 201 Wick Ave., is under the Corp. for National and Community Service. It is a volunteer program whose aim is to link volunteers, age 55 and over, with a variety of volunteer opportunities within their community. There are sites throughout Mahoning and Trumbull counties with opportunities such as senior companionship, transcription for museums, meal delivery for home bound seniors, construction and other opportunities. There is no maximum requirement of volunteer hours. There is a short application, and the program coordinator will meet with volunteers to match them with their preferred site based on their interests, skills and location.
