Glenwood Junior High hosts sporting good drive

Friday, September 23, 2016

Something new is happening this year at Boardman Glenwood Junior High School in the spirit of the Olympics; a major “Sporting Goods Drive” to partner with Mission of Love, and send much needed equipment to children in Guatemala. The idea is to take the cleats, gloves and bats that students may have outgrown and send them where children can use them. The drive is asking for used baseballs, soccer balls, gently used uniforms and other sporting equipment.

Glenwood decided to team up with Mission of Love, an all volunteer grassroots organization founded in 1989 by Kathleen Price of Youngstown. All sporting good donations will be accepted by Glenwood teacher Eric Diefenderfer. From Boardman, the donations will travel to Guatemala via the Denton Program, airlifted from the Vienna Air Base on a C5 Galaxy Hercules plane.
