At left is a photograph of Hildegard Taindel, Andrei and Simone's mom, who died recently at age 93. Taindel was a multi-lingual German immigrant who lived for many years in communist Romania, narrowly evaded a concentration camp and worked as a translator for embassies. Here, she translated for the International Institute of Youngstown, and continued to translate for Valley residents through this year.
