POLICE CALLS

A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:

CANFIELD

Oct. 10

Warrants: Police arrested Mark Burney, 51, of Breaden Street, Youngstown, on a Struthers warrant for failure to appear, and Steven Wingard, 42, of Fairground Boulevard, Canfield, on a warrant for failure to appear.

Oct. 13

Warrant: Police arrested Joseph Kolesar, 19, of Brookpark Drive, Canfield, surrendered on a warrant out of Canfield Mayor’s Court for failure to appear.

Oct. 17

Warrant: Police arrested Donnie Greathouse, 38, of Cedar Ridge Street, Salem, on a Canfield Mayor’s Court warrant for failure to appear.

Theft: Scrap property was taken from a business in the 600 block of West Main Street.

Fraudulent charges: A report of fraudulent charges on a credit card was made at a home in the 100 block of Brookpark Drive. An investigation linked activity from out of the country.

AUSTINTOWN

Oct. 17

Burglary: Prescription medications were stolen from an attached garage at a home in the 3000 block of Ayrshire Drive.

Motorcycle theft: A 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was stolen from the Cracker Barrel, 5600 Interstate Blvd.

Oct. 18

Warrant: Police arrested Marlon Williamson, 29, Arms Boulevard, Niles, on a warrant for failure to appear on a domestic-violence charge.

Criminal damaging: A rock was thrown through a window at a home in the 400 block of Ohltown Road.

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Cory Wright, 22, of East LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse of marijuana.

Theft: A leaf blower was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Edinburg Drive.

Warrant: Police arrested Leanna Bermudez-Shaulis,18, of Cannon Road, Austintown, on a theft charge warrant. Police accused her of taking $34.64 in merchandise from Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Police arrested Riaz Ahmed, 52, of New Road on a warrant on a charge of menacing by stalking of his daughter.

Oct. 19

Warrant: Police arrested Debra Davis, 56, of Columbus on a warrant for failure to appear on a felonious-assault charge.

Warrant: Police arrested Kenneth Leshner, 44, of Barberton on a warrant for theft of $2,679.81 in merchandise, including seven laptop computers, at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Drug offense: Paramedics administered two doses of the Narcan to Michael Ghiates, 31, of Market Street, Youngstown, after he was found in a Walmart bathroom unconscious from an overdose. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and later charged with drug abuse of heroin, inducing panic, possession of drug-abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia,.

Theft: Three bottles of vodka were taken from Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.

Oct. 20

Warrant: Polcie arrested Kayla Marcum, 23, of Pine Lake Road, Salem, on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge and turned over to Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.

Theft: An electric golf cart was stolen from Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

Burglary: Copper pipe was stolen from a home in the 70 block of Westminster Avenue.

Oct. 21

Theft: Mail was reported stolen from a home in the 200 block of Rosemont Avenue.

Oct. 22

Vehicle theft: A 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Cannon Road.

Theft: Police issued a summons to Melissa Nieman, 28, of Indiana Avenue, Sebring. Police said she took $34.15 in merchandise from Walmart.

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Brandin Hardin, 19, of Hayes Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of possession of marijuana.

Theft by deception: A check scam by an unidentified female was reported at a home in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Oct. 23

Warrants: Police arrested Angel Morales, 34, of Deer Creek Court on warrants for theft of $309.47 and misuse of a credit card.

Auto theft/recovered property: A Pontiac Sunfire was stolen from a home in the 300 block of North Yorkshire Boulevard. It was later recovered by Youngstown police.

Theft: A cellphone was stolen from Walmart.

Drug paraphernalia: A used syringe was located at Giant Eagle.
