ASSOCIATIONS

William Penn Association Branch 28 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eat’n Park Restaurant in Boardman. Plans will be discussed for the annual Christmas party.

McDonald Sideliners will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.

CLUBS

Newcomers of Mahoning Valley will have its monthly luncheon Wednesday at O’Charley’s in Boardman. A social will begin at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be at noon. Victoria Korb from Smart Body will discuss different physical therapy techniques that lead to a healthier life. National Council of Negro Women Inc., Ohio State Coalition, state meeting will be Oct. 29 in Youngstown. The Youngstown Section will host the meeting at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the OSC meeting at 9. Registration is $10 and includes continental breakfast and luncheon. Embroiderers Guild of America, Youngstown Area Chapter, will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at IOOF Hall, 111 S. Broad St., Canfield. There were not be an evening meeting. LEAGUES

Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Glenellen Assisted Living, 9661 Market St., Boardman. Members are to take items for shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The BPJWL Juniorettes will assemble the shoeboxes Nov. 13. Items collected for local veterans will be organized and delivered. The final donation will be monetary. Judge Shirley Christian will be the speaker. Hostesses are Tina Bellino, Joyce Martin and Sperry Rongone. The group is open to all women over 18 residing in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties who are interested in friendship, fun and community involvement. Its mission is to provide a creative outlet of community service in areas of arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs and public affairs. SOCIETIES

Mahoning Valley Accounting Society is sponsoring a Continuing Professional Education seminar at 6 p.m. Tuesday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Registration begins at 5:45. The program qualifies for 1.5 hours tax. Dinner is included in the cost of $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Christine Williams, OBWC regional business consultant, will discuss the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation updates and overview of prospective billing transition update; and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday there will be an Accounting and Auditing update seminar. Alzheimer Network Family Support Groups will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Easter Seals Adult Day center, 721 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman; and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Education building, 251 S. NAMI Mahoning Valley will offer support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Family support groups, providing information for family members and friends of individuals with mental illness, will be offered the first Thursday of each month in Trumbull County at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St., and on the second Tuesday of each month in Mahoning County at 7 p.m. at the Alta Care Group, 142 Javit Court, Austintown. The Connection support group aims to connect individuals who live with mental illness in a structured discussion format. It is limited to adults living with a mental health diagnosis in order to promote self-disclosure in a safe, confidential environment. It is free and open to anyone with a mental health diagnosis. They meet for a day session at 1:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Community Center, 1344 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, and in the evenings at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Alta Care.
